Can't Miss Sessions Day Three IRWD

Wow. Awesome content and great discussions filled a jam-packed Day Two at the 2011 Internet Retailer Web Design Show. To protect the innocent, we concluded two out of our top three picks for Day Two were lived up to expectations, which means despite all the statistics thrown around our conversion rate was still the best out of anyone’s from Day Two.

Nonetheless, just in case your head wasn’t spinning enough from all the great information, here’s a look at our three “Can’t Miss Sessions” of Day Three.

What it takes to make social media initiatives succeed
9:45-10:15 am
Justin Perdue, Web Manager, Beau Ties, Ltd.

Over the course of the last year we’ve been approached by people who want to know how social media can fill their bank account as if they were Mark Zuckerberg. Time and time again, we continue to reinforce that unless you can identify a “voice” for your social strategy and a purpose, determining an ROI is nearly impossible. We’re picking this session as one of our “top picks” because we will get to hear Justin’s insight into how a client won and lost while “navigating” through the various social channels and the financial impact it had on their business. Pay attention to the principals and metrics for key takeaways from this session in order to determine how you can revolutionize your social strategy.

It sounded like a good idea at the time…
1:45-2:30 pm
Ethan Giffin, CEO Groove Commerce

Certainly you all knew it was coming. Somehow one of our “top picks” features our very own CEO and Founder. Come battle your final day food coma right after lunch with this lively session featuring Groove’s very own Ethan Giffin as he presents on testing and concepts that seemed like a good idea. Ethan’s session will vouch for the fact that you learn just as much from losing as winning and that, egos aside, your customers will always tell you what works. This session will feature client examples and their results to show you why “A.B.T.” (Always Be Testing) is a motto we’ve come to live by at Groove Commerce.

Mobile: Step by step through a mobile site design
2:30-3:15 pm
Jo Benson, COO, Vortx Inc.
Stephen Leitch, Marketing & IT Director, Music Factory Direct

How could we go by another day without talking about the magical M-word? This session will continue to emphasize the importance of identifying a purpose for your mobile presence before beginning design or development. Through this strategic planning, your KPI’s should become the driving force for the vision of your mobile strategy. E-tailers must see this session if they are evaluating how their mobile commerce can become a part of their online strategy this year.

So after that final session concludes and you stretch your hand out long enough from typing or writing in order to find a cocktail, evaluate what are the immediate takeaways from the sessions and conversations over the last few days versus more long term planning and thought concepts. By doing so you’ll ensure you can add immediate value and continue the forward thinking essential for growing your online business in 2011.

As always, if you can’t be at the show stay up to date with us by following @GrooveCommerce and/or #IRWD for all the latest from the final day here in sunnier and warmer Orlando. ☺
