Why Use Klaviyo Segmentation?

Klaviyo segmentation enables merchants to group contacts into detailed segments based on each contact’s own properties or behaviors. This allows merchants to streamline email and SMS marketing efforts within their Klaviyo account by sending targeted messages to the right groups of people at precisely the right time.

Without segmentation, merchants would be required to send mass emails to the majority of the contacts in their database. Thankfully, segmentation exists, so the days of mass one-off email sends are over. With Klaviyo segmentation and a precise email marketing strategy, you can expect to see increases in engagement and revenue.

How To Create Segments In Klaviyo

1. Navigate To The Lists & Segments Tab

4. Add Conditions

Add Conditions To Your Klaviyo Segment

First, name your segment and select appropriate tags based on your goals (we did not do that in the screenshot above since this is just an example). Then, set the segment’s conditions.

Klaviyo segmentation allows merchants to segment contacts in their account based on the eight factors shown in the drop down above. After selecting a definition, segment further by adding filters that apply to your target audience. See the image below for an example that shows a segment of people who have clicked an email at least once in the last 30 days.

Take filters a step further by adding a specific campaign to the filter. Rather than clicking just any email in the last 30 days, the screenshot below shows how you can filter further.

This means that this specific segment, after clicking “Create Segment” in the bottom right of the screen, will include contacts from the Klaviyo account that have clicked the email titled “April New Releases 22” at least one time in the last 30 days.

This client can then use this segment to target these people and build unique Klaviyo email and SMS campaigns centered around their wants and needs.
